Jeff Medhurst
About the Author
Jeff's love for storytelling was nurtured at a young age. He loved receiving feedback from his audience, which usually consisted of his family and friends, or anyone with ears. As a self-proclaimed nerd, Jeff was a voracious reader of urban fantasy like The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and comic books like Ultimate Spider-Man and The New Avengers, which inspired his creative writing in high school.
Jeff's love for writing didn't stop there. He continued to explore and hone his techniques while acquiring his Bachelor of Communications in Journalism from Mount Royal University. He produced many pieces for the Calgary Journal, including an interview with Weird Al Yankovic who was a guest at the local comic expo and the documentary Youtube: The Largest Talent Show on Earth. After graduation, Jeff was hired on as a staff reporter for The Mountaineer in Rocky Mountain House. Jeff decided that one degree wasn't enough, and enrolled at the University of Calgary to complete his Bachelor of Education. For the past five years, Jeff has taught fifth through ninth grades, focusing his talents in English Language Arts.
Jeff published his first short story in the fall of 2023 called The Boy and the Fish in Northword magazine. He is ecstatic to share The Vinton Chronicles with the world through Wicked Ink Publishing. Inspired by Jeff's favourite stories across many mediums of entertainment, The Vinton Chronicles is the culmination of work that Jeff has been doing since grade school and he can’t wait for the books be out in the world.
When not writing or teaching, Jeff is spending time with his wife, two kids and his very sassy dog. He also can be found catching up on his latest comics, video games, and movies.
